Veteran infielder Dan Garey will return to the
Street Kids/Suburban South softball team in 2009,
marking his seventh season with the team.

Garey had other offers but never really considered
leaving the team he has called home for so long.

"When you play for this team, you will get noticed
for sure," said the stocky former minor leaguer. "The
question was never would I want to leave this team,
but what is the team doing in 2009 to be better. I feel
that TJ (Jorgensen) has made the right moves, along
with some other things the organization is working on
to put us in the right place for next year. I'm glad to
be a part of this team once again."

Garey missed several weeks earlier this spring following surgery and is looking to improve on what he
called a sub-par season. He finished with a respectable .627 on base percentage and hit 23 home runs
with 148 rbi's in 2008.

In other news, the team also announced they have
extended offers to former state champion MVP Nick
Bishop, as well as 2007 Comeback Player Award
winner, Tony Hardiman, and both have been accepted.
Bishop, who earned an MVP nomination for his
outstanding 2008 season, hit 60 doubles, four of which
he hit in one game, setting a SKS record. His OB%
of .676 in tournaments was third best among regulars.

Hardiman had one of his most sound defensive seasons
in 2008, improving his play tremendously. He finished
the season with a respectable .634 OB%, and hit 53
doubles with 17 triples, good for second best on the
team. He will don the SK uniform in 2009 for the
ninth straight year.
