Awards Banquet Closes Out 2007

 

South Bend, IN-

 

The 2007 season officially concluded Saturday night as the Street Kids Softball organization held their annual post season awards banquet at the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend.

 

Among those honored was Lanny Fisher, the veteran pitcher who joined the SKS team last fall and helped lead the team to seven tournament wins, including a state title, and a 47-30 record. Fisher was named the 2007 Starcraft Bus/SKS Most Valuable Player. He beat out batting champion Shane Varga, who won the Most Outstanding Player in Tournaments award. Joe Horvath was named the Most Outstanding Player in League after he clubbed a record 71 of his 85 home runs in league games and helped lead the SKS team to an ASA record 81-9 finish.

 

Other winners included Cathy Sutton, who won the coed MVP and Jeff Arnold, who won the Kalamazoo MVP award. Tony Hardiman was named the Comeback Player of the Year winner after raising every one of his offensive stats from a year ago, including raising his batting average 63 points.
