In Just Seven Total Offensive Innings,
Street Kids Put Up 58 Runs in Sweep
Game 1 vs. Big M: WON, 24-5
Game 2 vs. Big M: WON, 34-12
South Bend, IN-
The Street Kids/Easton/PAS softball team - proudly
sponsored in leagues by Zolman Tire - bounced back
from a tough loss in Warsaw this weekend to sweep
the team that swept them one year ago in this same
South Bend Platinum league.
SKS (45-9 overall, 6-0 in leagues) opened up the a
big can of offense Monday night en route to a 24-5
and 34-12 sweep of Big M Sports/CCI at the
Belleville Complex. They only played a total of seven
offensive innings, compiling 58 runs. Jake Underwood
hit five home runs and drove in 12 runs to highlight
the offense
The Kids had two innings in which they scored at least 17 runs, including a 19-run second inning in game
one. Neither game was close at any time, surprising given the strong team Big M has.
"We know from first hand what its like to be down a bunch and try to battle back," said TJ Jorgensen.
"They're a good team, but its tough for any team to get motivated when you're down by 20 (runs)."
Along with Underwood's 9-for-9 outing, Lanny Fisher added an 8-for-9 day, while Joe Horvath and Tony
Hardiman went 7-for-9 each. Horvath homered twice, including a grand slam. Chris Firebaugh went
6-for-6 as well.
