Nick Bishop remained red hot, extending his
streak of consecutive hits in league to 18 with nine
more on Thursday as the Street Kids/Easton
softball team rolled to their 10th straight league win
with a 34-3 and 24-11 sweep of Brennan Dental
in South Bend.

"I actually started to hit the ball better this year
because I stopped trying to hit it harder and work
on hitting smarter," the six year veteran infielder
said. "Not worrying about hitting a three run
homer, and focus on finding gaps."
That mentality has paid off for Bishop, who raised his league average to .844 in 12 games, including collecting 18 straight hits, a
streak that he will take into next Tuesday in Mishawaka. Unfortunately that is not even enough to lead the team in leagues, as Joe
Horvath remained red hot, collecting eight more hits in nine at bats, to take his average to .845 in leagues, and .715 overall.

Also contributing in the win was Joe Richard and Brendan Baird, both adding eight hits on the night and TJ Jorgensen and Chad
Doan both added seven hits each.

The Kids (44-11 overall, 17-1 in leagues) are officially off this weekend, but many SKS players are participating in the 2nd annual
Berto Memorial Tournament in Elkhart this weekend. The
event is held each year to help raise money for lingering
medical costs associated with the sudden death of Alberto
Naranjo. The B3/Street Kids team was named after the
fallen softball player.

The event will be held at Riverview Park in Elkhart starting
Saturday morning and will carry over to a memorial party
on Sunday. The South Bend Tribune came out to visit with
members of SKS a few weeks ago and reporter Erica
Morrison of the Tribune said the story will publish in Fridays
edition of the daily paper.
