Street Kids Extend
League Winning
Streak to 26 Straight
Joe Horvath connects for his 58th home run of the season in Mishawaka on Tuesday.
Mishawaka, IN  6/29/10

Joe Horvath homered three times to help lead the
Street Kids/Easton/PAS softball team to their
26th straight league win on Tuesday night over a
depleted Midwest Mayhem team. The Kids won
the first game 20-6 in four innings, and the hapless
Mayhem team was forced to throw in the towel
for the nightcap, forfeiting the final game of the
night due to an injury to their shortstop.

Horvath's three round trippers give him a team
high 58 on the season. He hit 103 during his
MVP-winning 2009 season in 108 games, an
average of 0.537 per game. This year, he is
averaging 0.853 (58 HRs in 68 games).

Justin Newcomer hit his 15th home run of the
season, while Chris Firebaugh (23rd), TJ
Jorgensen (13th) and Jason Fowler (2nd) all
added home runs as well. Horvath, Newcomer,
Firebaugh, Scott Martin, Jay Jeffery and TJ
Jorgensen all led the way with three hits each.

Street Kids (69-14 overall; 33-1 in league)
bounced back on Tuesday after their worst
tournament showing of the season on Saturday in
Kokomo, where they went a disappointing
1-and-2 and played very uncharacteristic of their
normal play, committing 12 errors in two games
on defense and batting a mere .571 as a team.
They will be off the rest of this week (off week on
Thursday) and with no tournament this weekend,
their next games will be against Squads Softball
on Tuesday, July 6th for a double header
beginning at 8pm.

Squads is the only league team defeat SKS this
season, doing so on opening night, prior to the
Kids reeling off 26 straight league wins. Squad's is
13-3 in the Tuesday Mishawaka League, second
only to Street Kids (15-1 in the league).
