in Topeka
Kids tie team record
with their 20th straight
overall win
Topeka, IN  6/30/2011

On May 19th, Street Kids Softball were playing the second game of two straight in Topeka, Indiana and were facing the
defending Class D ASA state champions, Tanel 360. Even though they struggled at times, SKS held a four run lead heading into
the bottom of the seventh, just to see Tanel score five to win it, 21-20. On Thursday, SKS was hoping to earn that loss back with
a sweep in Topeka.

Thomas Helmuth and Leland Schmucker had seven hits each to help do just that, leading Street Kids to a double header sweep of
Tanel 360 on Thursday, winning the first game 20-9 and
taking the nightcap 18-11. Schmucker homered three
times and drove in 10 runs while Joe Horvath has six
hits - including four home runs and eight RBI's - and
Jay Jeffery also had six hits to help lead the attack.

The Kids (62-8 overall, 27-3 in league) tied a club
record with their 20th straight overall win (including
tournament games) and can break that record with an
opening game win on Saturday in the annual July 4th
Festival tournament in Topeka. Their first game is at
4pm. If they win, they play again at 7pm and the tourney
concludes on Monday, with no softball taking place on
Sunday, respecting the church beliefs.
