Street Kids Split with
LCI in Topeka, Drop
to 17-3 in Leagues

Topeka, IN 6/9/11
The Street Kids/Easton/RPN softball team did something
this week they did during the entire 2010 league season:
They lost two games.
SKS split a double header for the second time this week,
this time against a very good LCI team, including a few
players from CCAC/Worth. The Kids played
uncharacteristically bad defensively on Thursday, and
like a good team, LCI took advantage, leading to a
19-18 win in game one. Jason Fowler, Thomas Helmuth
and Jay Jeffery all added four hits in the loss.
In the nightcap, SKS looked a little better, hitting the ball harder and finding gaps. They had two big innings that made the
difference, and won 23-17. Jeremy Hochstetler, who saw his 16 consecutive hit streak end in the very first at bat of the night, had
five hits in the second game, along with Leland Schmucker and Jay Jeffery, who also had five hits each. TJ Jorgensen added four
hits to help lead the Kids to their 17th win in 20 league games in 2011.
Street Kids (43-8 overall) will take their 26-5 tournament record to Three Oaks, Michigan on Friday night, where they will look to
defend their Flag Day title. First game begins at 10pm, weather pending.
