Seymour, IN 9/14/2013
Street Kids Softball traveled to Seymour, Indiana to take part in a newer association in the Midwest called CSA (Continential Sports Association). CSA originally started in California and is growing rapidly in the Midwest.
Six teams competed in the event and in the end, Street Kids went a perfect 4-0 and won the open world series crown. The Kids were without several players, but picked up Ronnie Simmons from Region and Bobby Edelberg from Honey Badgers, as well as Brandon Dillon, who has played on and off with SKS for the last several years, including on the world championship winning GSL team last year.
SKS opened against Pistol City and won that game 20-12. Brandon Dillon went 5-for-5 with three home runs while Joe Horvath (three home runs, four RBI) and Shane Varga added four hits each. In the second game, SKS had to battle to beat a very good Players Warehouse team. Players led by eight runs late before SKS battled back with nine runs in the sixth and held on to win 16-12. Scott Martin led the way with four hits, including a huge go-ahead three run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The next game was against Bloomington Moose/K&G, and this game was a battle back and forth before SKS finally pulled it out 22-14. Brandon Dillon had five hits, including four home runs and 10 RBI's. After a break, the Kids came back and were playing against Burt's for the championship. This game went pretty uneventful and SKS went on to win 17-7, and wrap up the CSA World Series crown. Brandon Dillon, Todd Mase and Scott Martin all had three hits to help in the win.
Brandon Dillon (16-for-17) was named MVP and joining him to the all-tourney team were Scott Martin, Chad Marchand, Todd Mase and Ronnie Simmons.
