Akadema to be Official Shoe Company
of Street Kids/Suburban South
South Bend, IN  12/12/09

The Street Kids/Suburban
South team from South
Bend will have a new shoe
to wear when they take to
the field in 2010, as the
team will boast the new
Zero Gravity footwear by
Akadema Professional.

Akadema, founded in 1997 by Lawrence Gilligan and his brother Joe, has been making
products for the sport of baseball for years and is among the industry's most respected. It
was just recently that Akadema decided to start promoting their products, including
footwear, to the sport of softball. Right now, they can lay claim to one thing for sure:

"We are the only manufacturer in the United States that makes gloves, wood bats and
aluminum bats," says Akadema spokesperson Tim Lentine. "Working through a mutual
interest (Don Stone) we heard about Street Kids Softball and that they were one of the big
teams in the sport. Stone made some calls and set it up and TJ (Jorgensen) and I put the
deal together. We are very proud to be associated with SKS in 2010."

Stone, from the Warsaw, Indiana area, has spoken to a rep from Akadema in the past, and
told them that Street Kids is one of the top marketing teams around.

"If you want to get your name and products out there, you need it in the hands of SKS,"
Stone said.

The SKS team will wear the new 2010 Zero Gravity Turf and Cleat shoes. The Zero
Gravity name is inspired by the US Space program, which led to the invention. Feather light
and lighting quick, you would "swear you were walking on the moon" their website boasts.
The turf shoe features a combination of soft mesh and synthetic leather for a lighter and
comfortable feel. The outer sole is full of rubber teeth that rip into the field to give you the
industry's best traction. A full length molded sock liner adds lightweight comfort and keeps
you fast and responsive, according to the website.

The shoes are not a low nor a mid, but somewhere in between, says Lentine. "I wouldn't
call it either. The best way to say is its right in the middle."

The new Zero Gravity shoe, which is available online at
www.AkademaPro.com, will retail
for about $60.00 but is being offered online right now at an introductory price of only
$40.00.

While a shoe deal is in place for 2010, Street Kids Softball and Akadema are busy working
on a glove deal as well. Akadema currently sponsors a large handful of Major League
players, including:

Manny Ramirez- LA Dodgers
Shane Victorino - Philadelphia Phillies
Craig Breslow - Oakland A's
Sergio Romo - San Francisco Giants
Tim Redding - NY Mets
Brandon McCarthy - Texas Rangers
Adam Miller - Cleveland Indians
Jose Guillen- Kansas City Royals
Mitch Stetter - Milwaukee Brewers
Vinny Mazzaro - Oakland A's
Brandon Moss - Pittsburgh Pirates
Ross Ohlendorf - Pittsburgh Pirates
David Murphy - Texas Rangers
Brad Ziegler - Oakland A's
Willie Eyre - Texas Rangers
Cameron Maybin - Florida Marlins
Mark Melancon - NY Yankees
Derek Holland - Texas Rangers

Street Kids Softball is the first upper level softball team to receive a shoe deal and
hopefully, will soon be the team wearing their gloves as well.
