Hershberger, Ramza and Others Help B3/Simeri's/Street
Kids to Taser Tourney Win
Mishawaka, IN 4/2/11
Mark Hershberger, Joe Horvath, Mike Ramza, Fred Shmucker and Matt Martin all stood out on Saturday as the B3/Simeri's/SKS league
team won the Taser's Tournament on Saturday.
Simeri's beat Vipers in game one, 19-3 then beat Dave Smith's "Go Go" team, 20-16. The third game pitted Simeri's and Tasers, in which
Simeri's took the 16-10 win and in the championship game, Simeri's once again beat Tasers, 18-12 to win the tourney.
The real story had nothing to do with softball, however. The Taser team was able to raise over $300 for Street Kids Softball player Shane
Varga, who suffered another setback recently in his battle with cancer. Taser coach and owner Shane Soule contacted SKS last week
saying they wanted to run a raffle to raise money for Shane's newly developed organization, the Shane Varga Foundation.
"We just wanted to do our part to help our softball fraternity brother and this was a perfect way to do it," said Shane Soule of Tasers.
Former SKS pitcher Mark Hershberger, who plays on the Simeri's team, agreed. His team donated half their winnings to the Foundation.
"We want to help support Shane and his Foundation in any way we can, and this is one of many steps we feel we can help."
