B3/SKS Disappoints in Warsaw
Warsaw, IN  6-19-10

You cannot win tournaments with a team batting average just
over .400, and B3/Street Kids proved that this weekend.

Despite getting to the championship game of the winners
bracket against the eventual champions Fort Wayne Street
Kids, B3 went a dismal 1-2 on the day, their only win was
against Stallions, 10-7. After losing to FW SKS 12-2, they
went on to lose to Ramrod 10-4. The 16 total runs scored
was the lowest tournament output this year for B3.

The only bright spot for B3 was the continue good play of
Brian Forray, who went 7-for-9 including three extra base
hits.

B3 dropped to 31-19 overall on the 2010 season.
Additional Reporting by B3 reporter and assistant manager, Simon Rodriguez:

B3/Street Kids welcomed back teammate Nate Taylor to action
in Warsaw, IN this past weekend. Taylor warmed up playing
three weeks of league games setting up the return since breaking
his hand in Grand Rapids, MI May 8th.

Behind the hot hitting of Brian Forray and an inside the park home
run by Nate Taylor, B3/SKS was able to pull out a win in the
opening game vs Stallions (10-7). Shortstop Mike Miller added
solid defense making a diving catch to his right halting a rally by
Stallions.

Fort Wayne/Street Kids coming off two victories (Pro Barbers
and Ramrod) was next up for B3/SKS, winner advancing to the
championship game. These two teams have seen quite a bit of
each other this year at tournaments, but never playing head-to-
head. With just enough offense to win game one, B3 found
themselves struggling from the start offensively pushing across
two early (and only) runs. FWSKS cruised past B3 in five innings 12-2.

"Fort Wayne kids hit the ball well," said Simon Rodriguez filling in for Mike Fisher as coach. "Nothing against FWSKS, a great team with
a lot of energy, but we just didn't hit well the first game and it showed in the second game."

B3 had very little time before they played the winner of Ramrod and Stallions. In what ended up being a good game, Ramrod squeezed by
Stallions late setting up the loser bracket finals against B3. As with the prior game, B3 did little offensively losing 10-6 and ending the day
(1-2).

Brian Forray (.777) and Nate Taylor (.555) led the team with 9 players hitting .500 or less.

"It was a bad day for us," added Simon. "Defense can only take you so far, you have to be able to score runs every inning."

B3 (10-2 in league) will try to bounce back in league play Wednesday against Underdogs Softball (9-3) at Potawatomi Park 6:30/7:30 in
a battle for the top spot.
