B3/SKS Finish Strong at All Nighter
Indianapolis, IN  7/17/2010

The 21st Jimmy "Mad Dog" Mantis All-Nighter in
Indianapolis,IN was played this past weekend featuring
well over 100 teams classed in men's upper, lower,
recreational, coed upper and coed recreational. B3/SKS
teamed up, in the open roster tournament, with players from
Shinetime speedy outfielders Jordan Ross and Nate
Aldora. Infielder Justin Aldora played but was also
committed to a coed upper team Dented Bats.

Game one (2am) against Id Hit It felt like a seven inning
game, but due to the one hour limit to keep all games on
time, was shortened to six innings pushing B3 to the losers
bracket in a 19-18 loss. Shinetime player Justin Aldora
went a perfect 4 for 4, while B3 players Jason Schmidt,
Rob Dillard, Mike Bailey and Kevin Lewandowski) added
three hits a piece. Lewandowski and Bailey also added four
RBI's in the loss.

Now a game down in the double elimination, B3 had to
regroup and play at 3pm (yes 3pm) against Swing Softball.
B3 bats started hot and never let up punishing Swing 21-0
in three innings. Brian Forray (4 for 4), Mike Miller and
Mike Bailey (4 for 4) each drove in four RBI's. While Rob
Dillard continued to stay hot in tourney play also going 4 for
4.

Shinetime players got in on the action in game three (11pm)
with Nate Aldora leading the way 5 for 5, with up and
coming outfielder Jordan Ross right behind with 4 for 4
performance.

"Nate really knows how to move the ball around on offense
and defensively gives you everything," said Simon
Rodriguez. "And Jordan from talking with other players
from the area is pretty new, but played great, can hit all
fields, plays defense, you will hear his name in the future."

With multiple players batting as many as three times in the
first inning, B3 handled Philly Softball 30-0 in three innings.
Pitcher Dave Schoen went 4 for 4 and Brian Forray added
six RBI's.

B3 swinging hot bats, and knowing that the next loss sends
them home, did not let the cool (85 degrees) of the night or
their next opponent at 3am Beaver News stand in the way.
Finishing them in a five inning game 16-6 with Mike Miller
going 3 for 3 and adding five RBI's.

At this stage of the tournament teams are being eliminated
pushing game times closer. Quick naps, or in some cases
Red Bull and no naps, along with adrenaline, is all that's left
to run on.

With Id Hit It now in the losers bracket, B3 was ready for
a rematch at 6am. Averaging 22 runs per game since the
first game against them, B3 took control of the game early
never looking back winning 27-15 in another ten-run rule
shortened game. Brian Sampers and Nate Aldora went 5
for 5. Brian Forray continued to drive runs in with six, as
well as Rob Dillard adding five.

The losers bracket has traditionally meant playing often so a
short turnaround (8am) would lead B3 to Wicked Stix.
Jordan Ross, Mike Bailey, and Rob Dillard got their fair
share of RBI's each with five ending Wicked Stix Sunday
morning 32-14. Center fielder Mike Bailey along with left
fielder Nate Aldora pushed fatigue aside going 5 for 5.

Scoring runs is what B3 was able to do since losing their
first game and needed to continue against a good Gametime
team. Starting slow the teams exchanged runs and flashing
the leather around. In what would be the second hour time
limit game (6 innings), B3 fell short 16-12 ending the day.
Jason Schmidt and Brian Forray each had three hits with
Rob Dillard leading the way with 3 RBI's.

B3/SKS finished 5-2 for the tourney batting .678 as a team
and scoring 156 runs versus giving up 70. Fatigue may have
been a factor but the players will tell you that you had to
keep hitting and scoring runs.

Thanks go out for the support by Shinetime softball and a
great tourney by Midwest Sports Complex. Best wishes in
the future for Shinetime players Jordan Ross, Nate Aldora,
and Justin Aldora. Shine on.

B3/SKS will play a doubleheader in league play
Wednesday and take the up coming weekend off to rest in
preparation for state and regional NSA tournaments in
August.
