Why the Name "B3"?
People often ask us, "why did you change your team name to B3?" To those who
know us best, know the answer to that. But for everyone else, here is the reason:

Our good friend and teammate Alberto
"Berto" Naranjo was struck by a ball during
a tournament in April of 2009, and he would later pass away from the injury. We
all were saddened by the loss of not only our teammate, but of our dear friend that
so many of us had grown up with.

We played the 2009 season under the name Bonzai Softball, dedicating the year
to Berto. Winning the ASA State Championship in Michigan in 2009 was a great
feeling, but it will never replace the pain we suffer from losing Berto. So we wanted to come up with a way to never forget Berto, not only in
our lives, but in the game and on our team.

We decided to change the team name to B3, honoring Berto and the his jersey number "3". We joined with the Street Kids Softball
organization after all the wonderful work they did following Berto's death. SKS swore that no one will ever forget Berto and we will
continue to play the 2010 season and beyond in his honor.

We miss you, Berto!
