Headlines the '09
Awards Banquet
in Michigan City
South Bend, IN 10/24/09
The 2009 Street Kids/Suburban softball
and awards banquet will be held on
Saturday, November 21st, at the beautiful
Blue Chip Casino and Hotel, located at
777 Blue Chip Drive in Michigan City,
Indiana, the team announced today. The
event is open to the public and begins at
7pm EST (6pm in Michigan City).
Jeff Hall of the famous Long Haul Bombers softball club and all around icon in the sport
will be the special guest speaker at this years event. Hall received an email from SKS
director TJ Jorgensen and responded that he would very much like to attend.
"I told TJ that if he would have me, I would love to be there," Hall said this week. "I am
very excited to come to the awards banquet and spend some time with a great bunch of
guys. Street Kids is a special team and I look forward to meeting everyone and having a
great weekend."
Hall will also join members of the Street Kids Care group as they plan an event in the
community on Sunday, November 22nd. Hall said those sort of things is what makes SKS
so special.
"Softball is a game we all play, but to go off
the field and make a difference like these guys
have done is truly amazing and I can't wait to
be a part of it," the North Carolina native said.
John Daniels of Long Haul Trucking and
CEO of the World Softball League, is looking
into filming the weekend's events - from Saturday nights banquet to Sunday's SK Care
event - for his weekly show, Softball 360.
"I've heard great things about Street Kids and Jeff Hall has spoken highly of them as well,"
Daniels said on Thursday. "I am hoping it works out to have someone there and capture
the events and maybe talk a little about the WSL and where the sport of softball is going."
The banquet will be the combination of the SKS team from South Bend, the
Suburban/SKS team of Kalamazoo and the Ro-Sham-Bo/SKS team of Mishawaka.
Along with a spectacular meal served by the catering staff at Blue Chip, the event also
features a full bar and assorted desserts. Following the meal, the awards ceremony will
begin, followed by a special end of the
year highlight video, prepared by the
highly talented Josh Taylor. After the
video, Jeff Hall will speak for a little bit
about various things, including his career,
how he battled through tough times, the
WSL, the state of our game from the
perspective of a major player, and also
about Street Kids Care, and the effect
it has had on the sport.
The event, which is held in the 5,400 square foot Orleans Ballroom
(click here for pictures and a virtual tour), will last approximately three
hours (7-10pm EST), at which point the party is encouraged to continue
on through the night at several hot spots within the Casino, Hotel and Spa.
Featured areas include It's Vegas Baby night club, Rock's Lounge and of
course, 65,000 square feet of the best gaming in the Midwest!
The Orleans Ballroom is conveniently located on the second floor of the
Casino. If you enter the Casino through the main entrance, just before the
security area checks your ID's prior to entering the gaming area, turn to your
right where you will see a staircase. Take these steps up and turn immediately
to your right, where you will see the entrance to the banquet. There will also be signs
pointing the direction.
Blue Chip Casino offers free valet parking for this event and its highly encouraged that you
use the valet, especially on a Saturday night.

1. Online. Click the "buy tickets now" logo on this page. Your purchase will be made
through Paypal, where you can use your existing Paypal account, or use a credit card.
Once the funds have been received, you will receive an email from Street Kids Softball that
your name has been added to the list that will be at the door of the ballroom the night of the
event.
2. Personal Check. If you do not have a credit card or a Paypal account, and you wish
to mail a check, you can do so by making it payable to Street Kids Softball and sending it
to:
Street Kids Softball
1217 S. 35th Street
South Bend, IN 46615
3. Cash in hand. If you are close to the South Bend area, you can contact TJ Jorgensen
at 574-607-2064 to arrange a cash drop off. If you are in the Kalamazoo area, you can
contact Matt Lavender to arrange a cash drop off.

Because the banquet is held in Michigan City, farther away from most that are attending the event, the Casino has offered a hotel package
to the first 27 reservations that book, using the SKS group code of GSK1121. This is available two ways:
1. Visit www.bluechipcasino.com/groups or click here to go right to this page. From this page, you enter the group code of GSK1121
and it will then take you to the booking page, where you can select your room (whatever is available) and pay with a credit card. This is
the fastest and easiest way to book your room.
2. Call the Blue Chip Reservations Department at 888-879-7711 and tell them you are
part of a special group attending on November 21st and that you have a group code.
After giving them the code, you tell them you want a room. If there are any left on our
block of 27, you will be offered the discounted price. If not, you will be offered the retail
price.
The retail price of the rooms on that night start at $152, and go up to $280, depending
on what type of room you prefer. The room rate for the first 12 people to sign up for a
room is only $79 through the special SKS group rate. After the 12 rooms are gone, the remaining 15 rooms on our block will be sold at
$99 per room. When those are gone - which will probably be before the weekend is over - the room rates at the Blue Chip are $152
each.
The special group rate is only available until November 6th. Once that date passes, the rooms, if any are left, will be released to the
general public at the retail price.
For those that cannot get the special rate and do not want to spend $152 for a room at the Blue Chip, here are a few other options that
are only a couple of miles from the Casino:
Red Roof Inn
Michigan City
866-573-4235
Hotels.com price: $69.99
Super 8 Motel
Michigan City
866-678-6350
Hotels.com price: $70.00
Best Western Plaza Hotel
New Buffalo, MI (10 miles from Blue Chip Casino)
Hotels.com price: $80.00
It is encouraged for anyone who wants to get rooms to do so as soon as possible as there is a Notre Dame home game that weekend,
and hotel rooms are usually booked for ND games as far out as an hour from South Bend.
This event is not just for members of the Street Kids/Suburban softball teams and organization. It is open to anyone who wants to take
part in one of the finest weekends off the field that the sport can put on display. From meeting and talking with legendary Jeff Hall, to
having drinks with fellow softball players, to spending a great time winning money at the Casino... this is an opportunity to take part in the
final salute to the 2009 softball season. All players, friends, families and anyone a fan of the sport of softball are encouraged to attend.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact SKS today!

All payments must be received by November 13th. Under no circumstances will anyone be allowed to enter the banquet without being
on the list. Security at the door will assure this.
