BC/Naz Sweep, Move to 23-8 Overall
Beavercreek, OH-   8/2/2010
Beavercreek Naz got right back into action after splitting their
two games over the make-up weekend. The guys from the Naz
felt like they let one slip away on Sunday afternoon and were
anxious to get back to playing.

Rich’s Pawn Shop was the first opponent and the Naz jumped
on them from the first pitch. The first six hitters in the line-up
reached base before an out was recorded and seven total runs
were scored in the top of the first. The Naz took that lead into
the bottom of the second inning when Rich’s Pawn Shop started
spraying hits all over the place and crept right back into the game
scoring five runs. They would add another in the fourth to cut the
Naz lead to one run.

Johnny King doubled leading off the fourth inning and scored on
a hit by Joe Noya.  The game would stay at 8-6 until the seventh
inning and the hit parade started again. Shawn Kitchin, Matt
Bohlmann, and Tony Copper all singled to start the last inning.
Nathan Reeves then doubled in two runs. Reeves didn’t stay on
base long as Mark Spitkze singled in two runs to cap the scoring
on the night.  The Naz bounced back from yesterday’s disappointment with a 12-6 victory over Rich’s Pawn Shop.

The evening at Rotary Park would conclude with a game against John Ross, Ross led the league for much of the first half of the season until
they played the Naz in round one. They were looking for payback from the earlier game.

Things were slow starting for the Naz as their first two batters were retired. TJ Mummert and Joe Noya worked walks and then James
Mummert knocked in his brother to give the Naz the early lead.

Matt Bohlmann served notice in the bottom of the inning that this night would belong to the Naz when he snagged a shot right back up the
middle from the lead off hitter. Ross would eventually tie the score in the bottom of the inning, but their joy would be short-lived.
Bohlmann helped himself at the plate reaching with one out, then hits by Copper, Mike Mummert, Johnny King and Reeves gave the Naz
the lead. A sacrifice by T Mummert and hits from J Mummert and Justin Reeves plated more Naz runs. After two innings the Naz had a 7-1
lead and would not look back.  Bohlmann was dealing nasty stuff on the mound, he had two strikeouts and his defense turned two double
plays.

Back on the offensive side of things the bottom of the order proved to be a pain in the side for John Ross: Bohlmann, Copper and M
Mummert combined to go 9-11 and scored nine runs.  It was a big night all around for the three Mummert’s in the line-up – they combined
for twelve runs knocked in of the sixteen that the team scored. TJ Mummert capped the night off with a big three run triple in the five run
fourth inning.

The Naz cruised to a 16-3 win and the win gave them sole possession of second place.

They have two weeks left and then the National Nazarene Tournament in Cincinnati over Labor Day weekend. Many on the team will
especially look forward to that tournament this year as they will get a chance to reunite with pitcher Matt Bohlmann and outfielder Jason
Robertson. Bohlmann played his final league game with the team as he is moving to Illinois with his family. Robertson has already moved to
the Chicago area after taking a job at Mt Olivet Nazarene University.  The team looks for the tourney over Labor Day to be one that ends
their season on a high note.
