Plymouth, IN-
With the help of seven current Street Kids/Suburban South softball players and even one former SKS
player, Ed Soike found himself back in the winners circle at the annual Blueberry Festival in Plymouth over
Labor Day weekend.
Tony Hardiman led an undefeated team to the championship with what Soike called an MVP weekend,
while other SKS players including Hank Minix, Lanny Fisher, Chris Firebaugh, Tony Leaf, Nick Bishop and
Shane Varga. Also playing was former SKS outfielder Todd Fizer.
Individual awards were not given out as in years past, but Soike said Hardiman, who reportedly only made
three outs in the tournament, was by far the MVP.
"He had a great weekend for sure," said Minix. "Everyone played great - good pitching, great defense,
especially Varga in the outfield - but Tony was right on all weekend. Made some great plays at third base
also."
