Warsaw, IN-

The Street Kids/Tanel/TPS softball team came into the 2007 NSA
World Series with confidence and a dream of becoming world
champions. Their dreams were let down this weekend in Warsaw,
Indiana, mostly by themselves.

SKS batted .582 through six games, five of them through the
losers bracket, as they struggled on offense all weekend. The
Kids lost their opening round game to Stifflers of Ohio then
managed to win four in a row in the losers bracket before being
eliminated by Ruby Tuesday of Sterling Heights, Michigan. One
of the problems SKS had throughout the tournament was they
would come out strong at the start of some games, then manage
only a few runs the rest of the way.

Another problem the Kids ran into was defense, mainly in the
first game. By the third game, the defense was solid, but the
offense still struggled, except for a few players. Drew Fizer had
18 hits in the six games, while Shane Varga added 16 and Tony
Hardiman had 15.

This was the tournament that the team planned for all season,
and even know they did not come away as World Champions,
they did finish a respectable 9th place out of the 46 teams that
qualified to participate in the World Series tournament. Team
Reload, who defeated Street Kids in the Indiana Super State
finals, won the World Series after they defeated
Revolution/Moose.

After having the next two weekends off, the Kids (56-20 in
tournaments, 121-26 overall men's main record) will wrap up
their 2007 tournament schedule with the Mishawaka Fall City
tournament, where they are the defending champions.

Up next for SKS is fall league action this week on Monday (8pm
and 9pm) and Thursday (6pm and 7pm) at Rose Park in
Mishawaka.
Tony Hardiman had a good tourney
showing at the plate, and after a
rough start a great showing on
defense.
