Help a Local Family This
Holiday Season
Purchase a cookbook for only $10 and help the
family of Jeni Bishop, who was slain in February
South Bend, IN   12/1/08
by TJ Jorgensen

Last winter, a South Bend nurse, mother and loving wife was taken from her family while shopping in suburban Chicago. Jeni
Bishop was one of several women who were shot to death at a shopping center and her killer is till on the loose. But because
of some of Jeni's friends and former co-workers at Memorial Hospital - along with the promotional help of Street Kids Care -
you can help make this holiday season a little brighter for Jeni's family.

Sarah Paturalski, a former co-worker and friend of Jeni, helped organized a cookbook,
full of 253 recipes of all types, that can be purchased for only $10. All of the proceeds
will go to the Bishop Children's Education Fund. Sarah and Jeni's former co-workers
and friends said the best they could do at this time was to help take care of the children.

"Jeni's kids were very precious to her," Paturalski told me tonight. "She would be
thankful for the help we are giving to get them a wonderful education."

So what does the cookbook contain?

"It's mostly recipes from the people in the ICU and their close family and Jeni and Brian's
family," Paturalski told WNDU today. "There's probably a good 25 to 30 recipes of
Jeni's-- which makes the cookbook really unique because it's just like a little piece of
her that everybody gets to hang on to."

You can purchase the book through this link:  www.jeniscookbook.etsy.com, but would
be much easier by clicking
here, which will take you directly to the page where you can
purchase the book using Paypal, or using a credit card. If you are in the La Porte area, you can purchase a book from Angelo
Bernacchi's shop at 1010 Fox Street, or call him at 219-362-6202. Checks can be made payable to Jeni Bishop's Cookbook
Fund.

Scott Krunk, a player in the Street Kids Softball organization, was watching the news story on WNDU-TV and thought that
with the high traffic on the website, perhaps we could do something to help.

"When I saw this story, I felt I had to call TJ and see what Street Kids Care can do," Krunk said. "Just bringing awareness and
maybe getting people to buy the cookbooks is better than doing nothing at all."

Losing someone is hard enough, but dealing with the holidays and not having Jeni around can be very hard on this family. I just
purchased my cookbook and I encourage you to do the same. It only takes a few minutes and the impact you are making can
last a lifetime.

You can read more about Jeni on a blog
