Memorial Bowl '10 Biggest
Street Kids Care Event to Date
Mishawaka, IN  1/16/2010

Dillion Weldy first met Mark Hershberger one year ago at the 2009

Memorial Bowl. From that day on, Dillion's family has formed a
bond with Mark and the Street Kids Care team that will last for
years to come.

Today, some new bonds were made at the 2010 Memorial Bowl,

held at Strikes and Spares in Mishawaka. With close to 100 people
attending, the Memorial Bowl proved to be the biggest Street Kids
Care event to date.

"I just think this just goes to show how much of an impact we've made over the years," said longtime SKS player Dan Garey. "To see this
many people here - players and families of Memorial Hospital - is a testament to how deep Street Kids Care goes in the community and
the lives we've touched."

With players from B3/Street Kids, Suburban/SKS, Fort Wayne Street Kids
and of course the South Bend SKS team in attendance, coupled with over 50
people from Memorial Hospital's Pediatric Oncology unit, Strikes and Spares
had more than a handful, but was eager to lend a hand.

"When my father started this company we wanted to make sure we found a
way to provide something more than just a place for fun and games," said
Mario Texeria of Strikes and Spares. "With the help of Street Kids Softball,
we've been able to give a place where even those that are struggling with
cancer or any other illness can come take part in some fun with a great group
of guys in Street Kids."

Dillion Weldy, the young cancer survivor who first met the SKS players one
year ago at the 2009 Memorial Bowl, once again returned to the place where
he fell in love with the players.

"I love these guys," said the Wakarusa resident. "I love spending time with them and I enjoy them making me smile."

Along with the bowling event, Street Kids Care also supplied pizza for the large group. The families and players also got to do some
miniature golf and a few people also raced in the go kart area. Mark Hershberger, the SKS Humanitarian Award winner from 2009, was
moved by the event.

"I tell you what, I am seeing lives change - including my own - every time I open my eyes and Street Kids Care has a lot to do with that,"
the big man said. "Its more than words can say to see these kids out here having so much fun, but its just as rewarding for our guys too."

Josh Taylor of SKS will have a special video available within the next couple of days. In the meantime, there is a short video of pictures
that were taken during todays events on this page.
