On January 10th, 2009, members of the Street Kids/Suburban
softball organization found a new friend in Dillion Weldy!

His Story.  Dillion has had back problems on and off for most of the
Summer of 2008. On August 4th his back was hurting so bad his
parents, Thomas and Cindy, finally took him to the doctor. The
doctor was not sure what was causing his pain. So they ordered an
ultrasound of his kidneys and a CT of his abdomen/pelvis. Both of
those tests came back negative. Dillion was then sent to a urologist
and had a meatomy done on September 3rd, which seemed to help
for a while.

Then a week or so later he fell getting off the school bus and was in a
lot of pain and could barely walk. So Thomas and Cindy took him
back to the urologist and he ordered another kidney and bladder
ultrasound, which came back negative. Then the urologist referred
Dillion to an orthopedist (OSMC).

The orthopedist was baffled with Dillion's condition, so she ordered a
total body bone scan, which came back negative. Two days later,
Dillion was scheduled for an MRI at Memorial Hospital and on the
CT film, the radiologist found a compression on his spinal cord. The
radiologist contacted the orthopedist and said Dillion needs to go to
Riley's Hospital.

The family got not even 20 minutes away from Memorial Hospital
and we were called by the orthopedist as well as the doctors at
Riley's and said there was not enough time for the family to drive all
the way to Riley's, so Dillion was going to go to Riley via helicopter
from Plymouth, the next town over.

Once to Riley, Thomas and Cindy learned that Dillion had a tumor
that was in and around his spinal cord, spine and nerves and were
not guaranteed that Dillion would ever be able to walk again. But by
the grace of God, they watched Dillion wiggle his toes that night after
surgery.

Two days later, Thomas and Cindy were told that Dillion had
Lymphoblastic Lymphoma (non-Hodgkin's) but the prognosis was
good.
