Street Kids Forced to Wait Another Week
for Season Opener
Mishawaka, IN   11-1-08

The Street Kids youth flag football team was looking
forward to Saturday's opener at SoccerZone in Mishawaka.
Unfortunately, they will have to wait another week.

Due to a scheduling conflict, the SKF team was forced to
play a scrimmage game against the coaching staff and some
referees on Saturday, a game they won by the way, and
allow them to better prepare for next weeks opener.

"The kids were a little disappointed, but at least they got to
play," said head coach
Joe Richard, who returns for his
second full season with the SKF team. "Everyone is really
excited about this season and even though its flag football
and its inside, the kids are looking forward to learning more about the game of football, learning to build
better characters with each other, and more importantly, to have fun."

The
Street Kids/Suburban softball organization got involved with youth flag football when Richard, a long
time member of the softball team, asked to use the name for his son Greg's indoor team. Street Kids
jumped at the opportunity to work with children.

"Joe, JR (Shapiro) and Chris (Milewski) have done a great job with these kids and they all look up to
them," said Street Kids/Suburban director
TJ Jorgensen. "I am personally going to try to make every
game, take some pictures, and really make the website look amazing for the kids to read."

Street Kids Softball began in 1978 and has grown into one of the top amateur athletic (non collegiate)
organizations in the Midwest, garnering over 50,000 hits per week on the website StreetKidsSoftball.com.
