Despite losing to Mr. T's, 56-14 on Saturday at
SoccerZone, the Street Kids youth flag football team
is playing better - especially on the line.

"You wouldn't know it by the score or our record,
but the kids are actually playing better," said head
coach Joe Richard. "They've improved their blocking
on the line and are becoming more assertive in going
after the flags. The most important thing at this age is
learning the game and having fun, and thats what
we're doing."

At the beginning of the season, the Kids (1-4 overall)
had a very lazy approach to protecting the quarterback,
but over the weeks it has gotten stronger.

"They (the offensive line) are doing a good job blocking for me but the guys we played today were just a little
bigger and faster," said quarterback Mitch Murphy.

Murphy was the victim of four personal fouls for roughing the passer as the larger Mr. T's team was coming
in pretty hard on him.

"It wasn't intential," Richard added. "They are just a physical
team and to compete against a team like that, we just need to be
more physical."

The Kids have some time off before returning to the field on
December 17th at 5:50pm.
