Young Races for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

South Bend runner will travel to San Francisco in October

South Bend, IN-

The Zolman Tire/Street Kids/Tanel Softball Organization and Street Kids Charities is proud to assist Holly Young in her efforts to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on behalf of Team in Training.  Holly will be running in the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco, California on October 22nd and is trying to raise money for the Society.

This is the first time I've trained for a marathon for a purpose other than site-seeing, or justifying the expense of traveling to other countries, or just proving to myself that I can finish it,” said Young, via her web site.

When the SKS.com team contacted Holly about the idea of helping by promoting the awareness on the team softball site, she was very excited.

“This totally made my day,” she said. “Words cannot express how utterly blown away I am at this gesture by the Street Kids. I had no idea they were planning to make such a great push for my fundraising efforts. I am so happy that you guys are helping me and I appreciate it so much.”

So how can we help?  Besides making a contribution via her web site, here is a way you can help by simply doing what we all love to do:  eat!  On Wednesday, August 16, the Hacienda Mexican Restaurant on Portage Street in South Bend will give 20% of all sales made by those bearing a special token or coupon to the Society on behalf of Holly Young.

The token is located here and all you have to do is simply print it out and take it with you anytime during business hours – lunch or dinner – to the Hacienda on Portage Street.  Remember, it’s only the Hacienda on Portage, not any other Hacienda Restaurant in the area.

Several members of the organization are planning on attending at sometime throughout the day and we are proud to help Holly reach her goal.  Good luck in San Francisco, Holly!

The Street Kids Charities program began earlier this year when the organization helped the family of Sarah Schools-Clay raise money for her Stem Cell Surgery this past summer.  The SK Charity program is planning many more activities in the future in order to help others in the Michiana area.
