Kalamazoo SKS Team Help Bring Awareness to Breast Cancer
The Kalamazoo Street Kids/Cruisers Pub softball team took a break from their busy lives - both on the field and at home - to help bring awareness to breast cancer by walking in the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event this past Saturday.
The South Bend SKS team participated in the same walk in Indiana last week and Jeff Arnold, who runs the Kzoo team and also came down to South Bend to walk, felt moved by the event and sparked his own teammates to walk in the Kalamazoo event.
"I am so excited for Jeff and the Kalamazoo team," said SKS director TJ Jorgensen. "Almost all of the stuff we do down here is ignited by myself or my wife. This was all Jeff's doing and that's very special. Our goal with Street Kids Care (charitable division of SKS) was to help make a difference in our community - off the field. And thats what the Kzoo team is doing. I couldn't be more proud."
The Kzoo team would like to thank Art Wear Apparel for giving the pink SKS shirts to the team at a wholesale price. They would also like to thank Lafrance and Kathy Bresson as well as Tom and Nancy Arnold for their financial support.
