SKS Add Another Piece to the
Puzzle for the Stretch Run
Malesko to provide more pop as well as defensive support for SKS

South Bend, IN 7/20/09
With the post season run just weeks away, the Street Kids/Suburban South
softball team from South Bend made another move to strengthen their roster,
and hope to bring the pieces together for one goal: a national title.
On Monday, SKS announced that veteran outfielder Mike Malesko will join the
South Bend team beginning on August 1st in Indianapolis for the ASA Class B
State Championship. Malesko, who is a teammate of new SKS players Kyle
Yerkes and Scott Zaciewski on their LineDrive/Pipe/TripleSSS/Easton USSSA
team, is a proven winner, and more importantly to SKS, he is an outfielder.
"When we considered going after another stick, we had
to be sure it was an outfielder," said SKS manager TJ
Jorgensen. "We already bolstered out team with the
additions of Kyle and Scott, but with injuries and so
forth in the outfield, we knew we needed a glove as well
as a guy with some offense. Mike brings us both."
With an impressive batting average of .702 and 25 home
runs in only 21 USSSA games, Malesko will hope to
bring those same numbers to the SKS club.
"Squ (his knick name) is not only a phenomenal hitter,
but has a great attitude and character as well," said new infielder Kyle Yerkes. "This organization prides itself
on more than just talent, and that is what originally attracted Scott (Zaciewski) and myself. With Mike, you
get the unreal raw talent of a stud ball player, along with the character and reputation as a wonderful person."
Malesko is excited about the second half of 2009 with Street Kids.
"From what I hear and what Kyle tells me, this is a great bunch of guys and a classy organization," the
35-year-old outfielder said. "I hope I can do my part and help this team win. Looking forward to meeting
the guys in a couple of weeks!"
