December 1st, 2006
Well, the 2006 season is in the books, the banquet seemed to be a smashing success, and
sponsors are renewing for the 2007 season. All seems to be going well heading into the
offseason. Just a few notes to keep everyone up-to-date with what is happening behind
the scenes with Street Kids Softball:
I have appointed a Board of Advisors to help me with some big events as well as to offer
advice on how to move forward as the organization begins to grow. No one expected this
website would garner over 2,000 hits per day during the season, and even with softball
over, we are still getting consistanly over 1,500 hits per day. The popularity of the Street
Kids is reaching new levels every day and I am so excited that everyone that is involved
will be growing with us.
The Board of Advisors are a group of six people, including myself, that will help to guide
the Street Kids organization into the future. Everyone has a role to play, including
direction our off-the-field ventures with Street Kids Care. There is a blood drive that we
will be hosting soon and we will also be active in the Relay for Life.
There are many new ideas and plan that we have for this organization and they will be
discussed at meetings throughout the winter. Among the items being discussed include
adding three more teams to the overall organization. One of those team will be our first
ever "expanded" franchise team, to take place in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I also have a
team in Indianapolis that is interested in becoming a Street Kids team.
Other items being discussed besides the business side of the organization is the big plans
for the College Football Hall of Fame/Street Kids Enshrinement Tournament to be held in
July. This will be a huge event, and we are in the works to make it more of a festival than
just a tournament. More information will be released as it becomes available.
Finally, I want to announce that Zolman Tire is returning next year as one of our chief
sponsors. Zolman Tire joined our organization in 2005 and is excited about heading into
their third season with the Street Kids.
Well, thats it for now! Enjoy your day!
