Tournament Concludes, But Raffle Still Going

Mishawaka-
Sarah Schools was one of the brightest, most talented young student athletes at Mishawaka High School.
She had high hopes and aspirations of playing college sports and with a GPA of 3.94, who knows what
the future held for Sarah. But her dreams of playing college sports came to a frightening halt on May
19th, 2001, when Sarah was left paralyzed from an ATV accident. In May, Sarah will travel to Portugal
to under go a revolutionary new Stem Cell surgery, with hopes of reversing the effect of the accident.
This past weekend, a benefit softball tournament was held in Mishawaka to help raise money for the
surgery which will cost over $100,000 (including post-surgery rehabilitation), none of which is covered
by insurance. With the help of many Michiana businesses, the family of Sarah was able to raise a good
portion of money. There were hundreds of players and people attending the chilly and wet event that
Sarah herself witnessed, battling the brutal wind and rain.
Despite the tournament ending, the fight to raise money continues. The Zolman Tire/Street Kids softball
team, who entered two teams in the tournament, will continue to hold the raffle for the autographed Tim
Brown ND jersey, with hopes of raising much more money for the surgery. You can purchase tickets by
clicking the Sarah Clay Recovery Fund logo below.
Sarah is currently a student at Butler University in Indianapolis as a Pharmacy student, where she lives
with her husband, Jeremy. She is an inspiration to everyone in her life, even to those who have never
met her, with all the obstacles that she goes through in her life. Please help the Street Kids team as we raise money for Sarah. The cost of the
tickets are only $5.00 each, and despite possibly winning the jersey, you will be doing something much more greater... helping someone else.
Life supercedes everything else, including softball. We are a bunch of grown men who get together to play a childs game. Sarah's situation is
not a game, but real life. Please help her to maybe get her second chance at doing the little things we take for granted every day... like walking
and running around a softball diamond.
Respectfully,
TJ
