South Team Struggles in '09 Debut
Indianapolis, IN  3-28-09

The Street Kids South team opened up the beginning of the year with a not so impressive start.

The Kids were without three starters and struggled to get any runs put together. They were beaten in the
first game by a good Game Time softball team. The Kids were down 8-2 going into the seventh inning, but
came up short after a four run seventh to lose, 8-6. Game Time went on to win the tourney.

In the second game, SK South again continued to struggle defensively and on offense, as they were beat by
the second place finisher, the Longhorns. The Longhorns got most of their runs with two outs as SKS failed
to close the door on any inning.

"As a team we had a lot of judgement mishaps and the sticks just weren't there," said Derek Stephen of
South. "We will look to redeem ourselves in the McCraken tourney on April 4th in Indianapolis. We still
won't be full strength, but we need all the game experience we can get."

Offense was indeed a problem for the team as they managed only one extra base hit in two games, and
batted .452 as a team. Some of the standouts include Bob Susek and Travis Morgan, who both had six
hits each. Robby Pitts and Joel Johnson both added five hits each as well.
