Tedder Announces Decision to Join
Suburban/SKS for 2009
Kalamazoo, MI 11/21/08
Former Softball Fans pitcher Jeff Tedder agreed to join the Suburban/Street Kids team for the 2009
season, manager BJ Roberts said on Friday.
"We are happy to have someone with his ability and experience on this team," Roberts said via phone. "Jeff
brings a lot to a team, and we are lucky to have him."
The 12-year veteran pitched for Softball Fans in 2008 but was benched during the Super World Series in
St. Louis last month, leading him to wonder about his future with the team. When he spoke to Suburban
head Matt Lavender several weeks ago, he immediately considered the idea.
"I have know Matt for about three or four years now," the Marion, Indiana native said. "Getting the chance
to play with him and the merger that he has done with the Street Kids organization, made the decision
much easier for me. Also, playing with or against most of the guys on the team make it a little more
comfortable than going to a completely new team."
Tedder, who was present at the Street Kids/Suburban softball banquet last week, has stated that he wants
to immediately step right into a role off the field, helping to do his part to help grow the charitable division
of the organization, Street Kids Care.
"This group does a lot of good and I just want to be a part of that," the pitcher stated.
Tedder will pitch in quite a few league games in 2009, and primarily back up starting pitcher and team
MVP, Todd Fairbanks in tournaments.
