Suburban Manager Reacts to Message
Board Rumors
Kalamazoo, MI 12/29/08
Suburban/Street Kids manager BJ Roberts has heard enough.
The manager of the reigning ASA World Champions dispelled rumors on
Monday night regarding players on his team, including those about pitcher
Todd Fairbanks. The rumor on the NSA North message board had stated
that Fairbanks was taking a job in Illinois and was leaving the team.
"It's completely false," said Roberts via phone. "Todd is 150% NOT moving
to Illinois and will be back in a Suburban/SKS uniform in 2009. He is very
excited about the new additions and cannot wait for the season to start.
Matter of fact, he is in Las Vegas right now with (Suburban owner) Matt
Lavender."
Fairbanks, who was named the team's Most Valuable Player this fall at a private banquet, led
Suburban/SKS to an NSA state championship, the ASA North National championship as well as the
ASA/Hooters World championship. He finished the season with a .742 average, with 70 home runs and 227
rbi's. His rbi's were second best behind Lavender (370), but played in 58 less games.
Roberts also crushed rumors that he was the new assistant coach of the Kalamazoo Kings, a minor league
baseball team in Michigan.
"As flattering as it is, I am not the new coach of the Kings," laughed Roberts. "This is just a case of some
bored people playing around on a message board, trying to start things. Like most stories with no real truth
to them, it will go away."
When a post is made on a message board, an IP address is listed as well. Ironically, the same IP address
was used to create both the rumor about Fairbanks as well as Roberts' new "job".

Roberts: "Todd is happy in a Suburban/SKS uniform."
