Today, the Street Kids Softball organization, in
cooperation with the Street Kids Care division
and the Ro-Sham-Bo/SKS softball team,
announced plans to partner with the Toys for Tots
Foundation. Toys for Tots is a foundation that
provides joy and hope to disadvantaged children
who might otherwise be overlooked by providing
new, unopened toys to them during the holiday
season.
Street Kids Care and RSB is holding a golf scramble on Saturday, September 26th, 2009, at the beautiful
Elbel Golf Course in South Bend. Each golfer is asked to bring one unopened, new toy, valued at no less than
$10.00. The price per person for the scramble will be $50.00 or $200.00 per foursome. The scramble will
start at 10:00 a.m.
The idea of the golf outing came from Rich Grundtner of the
Ro-Sham-Bo/SKS team, along with one of his players, Boz Andrews.
"We are very excited to have the chance to help make a difference in
the lives of a few children during the holidays," said Boz Andrews of
the Ro-Sham-Bo/SKS team. "We were able to raise almost 400
pounds of canned food during the first golf outing for the Food Bank
and we are hoping to raise lots of toys for children this time around."
"This is our first full year with the Street Kids organization and every
time there is another Street Kids Care event, we get a little more
excited for what the organization is all about," said Grundtner. "We
all want to do our part and hopefully it will allow other organizations
to do the same thing."
The holidays are approaching quickly and many families in our community continue to be, or are newly,
unemployed. Street Kids Care, the charitable division of the Street Kids/Suburban softball teams, with
support given through this golf outing, would like to assist the Toys for Tots program to provide new toys for
the children of those disadvantaged families.
In 2008, Toys for Tots delivered toys to over 7.5 million children. Unfortunately, over 13 million children are
living in poverty. As a result, Toy for Tots needs everyone’s help more than ever to achieve their goal of
delivering toys to every child in need. The Ro-Sham-Bo/SKS team and Street Kids Care wish to do their part
and collect as many toys as possible to send a message of hope to those children.
Join the organization at Elbel Golf Course on September 26th to donate a new toy and play a round of golf
with your friends. But more importantly, come help out a young child who may not have anything to open this
Christmas.
